Ashny set to release new album, “Ain’t Playing”

Nigerian artiste, Ashionye Edike, known as, “Ashny”, says her 10-track self titled album, “Ain’t Playing”, will be released on Oct. 15.

Ashny, in a statement on Monday said the musical album is an afropop and soul rendition comprising songs on several subject matters like hope, survival, love, consciousness and women emancipation.

The artiste who is also an actor and fashion designer, listed the tracks as: Ain’t Playing, Give me more, Volup, Fe Mi, Middle of something, Lover Lover, Gbemileke, Overcome, Jewel and We All Mad.

“My new album, “Ain’tPlaying”, will be released on Sunday, Oct. 15.

“It has taken about three years to complete work on this project, I wrote the songs, as well as Kofi Tha Guru who also is the A&R and business manager of the brand.

“Producers on the album include award winning Sossick, Lowkeyz, Lychy and Daihard beats,” she said.

Ashny has to her credit an EP titled ‘Rough Play’ which includes songs like ‘Tinini’, ‘Ori’, ‘Under’, ‘More’, ‘Ogogoro’ and more.

Ashny is also an accomplished actor who has featured in movies like ‘Ropo’s Race’ (alongside Koffi Tha Guru, Sir Shina Peters, Salawa Abeni, Yemi Shodimu, Omobaba etc.), Mumble Jumble, Scama O Rama, Hotel Security, One Good Shoe, Ghost Writer, A Maid Solution and Senior Man among others.

She is scheduled to be the major act in a forthcoming ‘own-music driven’ movie, ‘Birth Of A Nightingale’ (The Overcomer).
