Court jails 2 internet fraudsters in Ilorin
An Ilorin High Court on Tuesday sentenced two persons to six months imprisonment, respectively, over internet fraud-related offences.
The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) secured the convictions.
The convicts were Habeeb Abubakar from Amoyo, Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara and Oyebisi Oke from Oshogbo, Osun State capital.
The presiding Judge, Justice Adebayo Yusuf sentenced Abubakar to six months imprisonment with an option of N50,000 fine.
Yusuf also ordered the forfeiture of the convict’s HP laptop recovered at the point of arrest to the Federal Government.
Similarly, Justice Adenike Akinpelu sentenced Oke to six months imprisonment with an option of N100,000 fine.

Upon arraignment, the defendants pleaded guilty to their respective charge.
EFCC Prosecutors, Sesan Ola and Andrew Akoja, narrated the circumstances that led to the arrest of the defendants and tendered their extra-judicial statements as well as exhibits recovered from them.
The prosecutors urged the court to consider the ‘guilty plea’ by the defendants and the uncontroverted exhibits tendered, to convict the defendants as charged.
