Nwakuche named Veritas Kapital Assurance MD

Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc, on Tuesday, announced the appointment of Dr Adaobi Nwakuche as its new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO).

The Company Secretary/Legal Adviser of the underwriting firm, Ms Saratu Garba, said this in a notification to the Nigerian Exchange Ltd. in Lagos.

Garba said that Nwakuche’s appointment followed the expiration of the contract of service of the former Managing Director, Mr Kenneth Egbaran, with the company.

“This is to notify the NGX, esteemed shareholders, stakeholders, and the general public of the appointment of Dr Adaobi Nwakuche as managing director/CEO of Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc.

“The appointment of Nwakuche is pending final approval from the National Insurance Commission,” Garba said.

It was reported that Nwakuche is a seasoned insurance professional, with over 25 years of execution and management of strategic partnerships and alliances, deal structuring, contract negotiations, marketing, team development and leadership.

Prior to joining Veritas Kapital, Nwakuche was the immediate past and pioneer Managing Director/CEO of Heirs Insurance Ltd., where she orchestrated the strategic direction of the company.

The new managing director was also a former Director, Commercial Division at Equity Assurances, while she had also held other high-level positions at STACO and Standard Alliance Insurance Company Ltd.

Nwakuche, who earned her first degree in Government and Public Administration from Abia State University, Master degree in Business Administration at ESUT Business School, is an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School and Lagos Business School.

She has a Doctorate in Insurance, Risk Management and Corporate Governance from European American University, while she is also a member of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) and Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), U.K.
