NiMet predicts 3- day haziness, sunshine from Friday

Cloudy, rainy, thundery activities to prevail on Friday – NiMet

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted haziness and sunshine from Thursday to Saturday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Wednesday in Abuja,  predicted thick dust haze condition on Thursday over the northern region during the forecast period.

According to NiMet, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility in the range of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the North central, and the Inland of the South during the forecast period.

It anticipated cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine over the coastal cities with chances of thunderstorms,  over parts of Cross River states during the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet envisaged moderate dust haze on Friday with horizontal visibility in the range of 2km to 5km over the northern region during the forecast period.

“Moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility in the range of 2km to 5km is envisaged over the North central region, and the Inland of the South during the forecast period.

“Cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine is envisaged over the coastal cities with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Akwa Ibom and Cross River states during the afternoon and evening hours,” it said.

The agency forecast sunny and hazy atmosphere over the northern regions during the forecast period on Saturday.

NiMet envisaged sunny skies over the North central region during the forecast period.

According to it, cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine is expected over the Inland states of the South.

It predicted thunderstorms over parts of coastal cities – Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Lagos and Delta states during the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet advised the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles are in suspension

“People with Asthma and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather situations.

“Moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods. The public is advised to take necessary caution, avoid driving and walking through flood waters.

“Strong winds are likely to precede and accompany the thunderstorms, the public is advised to take necessary safety precautions,” it said.

NiMet advised Airline operators to get updated weather reports from its office for effective planning in their operations.
