Candidates react to JAMB’s 160 cut-off mark for admissions

In a shocking turn of events, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has sent ripples through the education sector by announcing a dramatic increase in registration fees for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the year 2024.

A statement released by JAMB outlined the revised registration fees: a staggering Seven Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira Only (N7,700) for UTME registration, now inclusive of a mock examination, and a hefty Six Thousand, Two Hundred Naira Only (N6,200) for UTME registration without the mock examination.

This seismic shift comes after the previous cost of the JAMB form without a mock exam stood at Five Thousand Seven Hundred Naira (N5,700), with the application form inclusive of a mock exam priced at Six Thousand Seven Hundred Naira (N6,700).

As if that weren’t enough, JAMB also disclosed that application documents for foreign candidates would now come with a price tag of $30.

The education landscape is bracing itself for further shockwaves as JAMB promises to provide a comprehensive breakdown of these fees during the official unveiling of registration details, scheduled on or before January 15, 2024.

In addition to the UTME registration bombshell, JAMB has dropped another bomb, revealing the registration period for the sale of Direct Entry (DE) application documents in 2024. The countdown begins as the sale of Direct Entry application documents is slated to commence on February 28, 2024, and conclude on March 28, 2024.

As the anticipation builds, JAMB has confirmed that the process of creating profile codes for registration is already in motion. The education behemoth assures aspiring candidates that detailed guidelines on generating profile codes will be disseminated at a later date, paving the way for the initiation of registration on January 15, 2024.

Aspiring candidates are urged to stay on high alert, closely monitoring JAMB’s official announcements and guidelines to ensure a seamless and successful registration process in the face of these dramatic fee adjustments.
