In a chilling display of heartlessness, assailants unleashed a reign of terror, mercilessly claiming the lives of at least seventy-six innocent souls in a series of coordinated attacks on communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State. The bloodshed unfolded on Saturday, casting a sinister shadow over Christmas Eve festivities.

Monday Kasa, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, delivered the grim news to Channels Television, revealing that the death toll continues to rise. Security forces, local vigilantes, and brave hunters are tirelessly scouring the bushes, discovering more lifeless bodies and searching for those ambushed during the horrifying assaults.

As the assailants wreaked havoc, they set numerous houses ablaze, pillaging farm produce, and leaving destruction in their wake. The unprovoked nature of these attacks has sent shockwaves through the region, prompting swift condemnation from Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Governor Mutfwang, incensed by the heinous acts, issued a stern directive for immediate and decisive action. In a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor called upon security agencies to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators, ensuring they face the full wrath of the law.

Amidst the chaos, the governor rallied communities across the state, urging unwavering vigilance. He implored residents to report any suspicious activities promptly, emphasizing the need for a united front against such senseless violence.

As the affected communities reel from the brutality, both the police force and the joint security task force Operation Safe Haven are yet to break their silence, leaving anxious citizens awaiting updates on the ongoing rescue operations. The dark cloud of tragedy hangs heavy over Plateau State, demanding justice and an end to this gruesome wave of terror.
