TCN receives 7 new transformers in Akangba substation, Lagos

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it has taken delivery of seven new power transformers and their accessories at its Akangba 330/132 Kilo Volt (kV) Transmission Substation in Lagos.

The company’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, said in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, that the transformers’ capacities range from 60 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) to 100MVA.

Mbah stated that the transformers are part of the ongoing TCN/World Bank power project, adding that they would be distributed to Alausa 132/33kV Transmission Substation, Akoka 132/33kV Transmission Substation, Maryland.

She listed other substations that the transformers would be delivered to as the 132/33kV Transmission Substation, Itire 132/33kV Transmission Substation and Amuwo 132/33kV Transmission Substation.

She said that “while the above listed substations will receive one transfer each, the Akoko 132/33kV Substation and Amuwo 132/33kV Substation will receive two transformers each.“When installed, the transformers will substantially increase the company’s power transmission capacity.”
