4 teenagers docked over alleged unlawful gathering

Four teenagers were, on Friday, arraigned before an Iyaganku Family Court, Ibadan, for alleged unlawful gathering and constituting public nuisance.

The defendants, whose addresses were not mentioned, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful gathering.

The four defendants are: Kehinde Sodiq, 17; Akande Azeez, 16; Mubarak Fakorede, 17 and Basit Odekunle, 16.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Gbemisola Adedeji, told the court that the offences were committed at White House, Labo area of Ibadan on Dec. 30, 2023 at 1 a.m.

Adedeji said that the defendants were arrested by the police for gathering unlawfully and constituting nuisance in the area.

According to her, the offences contravene Sections 64 (a) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them by the police.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Ogunkanmi, granted defendants bail in the sum of N100, 000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Ogunkanmi said one of the sureties must be a parent or guardian of each of the defendants and must be responsible.

She, thereafter, adjourned the matter till March 17 for mention.
