Tinubu’s practical fight against corruption commendable – FRC boss
Mr Victor Muruako, the Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), has commended President Bola Tinubu for the practical steps being taken to tackle the menace of corruption in Nigeria.
Muruako gave the commendation while speaking with our reporter on Thursday in Abuja.
He spoke against the backdrop of the recent suspension of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, for alleged corruption.
According to Muruako, the president has demonstrated that the fight against corruption is real.
He said that the president’s stance against corruption aligned with the mandate of the commission in promoting prudent management of national resources and ensuring accountability and transparency on fiscal operations.
He also commended Tinubu’s initiative to cut the cost of governance by reducing travel entourage for himself and all government appointees.
“The President has sent a strong message to all government officials that he is serious about fighting corruption. It is now clear to everybody.
“Even the decision to reduce the cost of official travels is equally commendable.
“All these happenings at the beginning of 2024 show that it will be a busy and impactful year.
“The government is embarking on critical reforms in the fiscal life of the country,” he said.
He urged all revenue generating agencies of the Federal Government to support the president by remitting all appropriate revenues to the treasury.
