Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun has observed that the state witnessed tremendous development during the administration of former Gov. Bisi Akande between 1999 and 2003 on the platform of the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD).

Adeleke made the observation in his message to the former governor on the occasion of his (Akande) 85th birthday.

The message, issued by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed on Tuesday in Osogbo, commended Akande for achieving great strides from lean resources during his administration.

The governor also applauded him for inspiring a sense of direction for young people through purposeful governance.

Adeleke said that the former governor’s birthday offered an opportunity to thank him for his contributions to the social and economic development of the state.

“Today, I celebrate a politician of note as he turns 85 years. Baba Akande, as I fondly identify him, is a remarkable administrator.

“More appealing about his personality is the warm and receptive policy that defines him, endearing him to people across political divides and faith.

“I convey the heartfelt wishes of the people of Osun and thank him for his contributions to the state as a governor and as a politician who made a lot of difference in our society,” he said.

The governor prayed to God to bless Akande with good health to continue to enjoy the benefits of his experience and counsel in advancing development for the state and the country.
