Chanelstoria is poised to help our youth, Gen Z, take the future seriously beyond what they see, today

We remember that two years ago, you guys supported an orphanage with goods and cash. Last year, you walked into General Hospital, Ayinke House to pay the medical bills and medication bills of challenged patients. This year, what are your plans?

We are going the Mandela way.

What do you mean?

Nelson Mandela was once quoted as saying: “Youths of Today are the Leaders of tomorrow.”

The youths are the future, the generation that will move forward whatever we are leaving behind. Youth is the most influential generation of this century. Born and raised in the digital age, they have the power to shape this country with our new world ideas, pleasant societal development, and contributions.

Our group; Chanelstoria, decided to evaluate the performance of students in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) coordinated by the West African School Certificate Examinations (WASCE) over the last three (3) years, to have an idea of their performance levels and areas where help might be required.

In the evaluation report, a statistical summary of the performance of students in various subjects, over the last three years (2021, 2022, and 2023) is presented, and at the end, a conclusion on performances, areas of weakness, and recommendations for assistance is provided. The report focuses on the combination of 3 (Three) Senior High Schools, all in Ikorodu, Lagos State. Sir, what is the summary of the evaluation report?

The students appear to not be doing too well in the core science and arts subjects, particularly Physics and Literature. Alarming is in Physics subject, in 2023, where the pass rate was 0% even though they appeared to do fairly well in Chemistry and Biology, especially in 2021 and 2023.

For the core arts subjects, the performance is a mixed bag.  Economics rated relatively high, as more than 50% scored credit and above in Economics for 2021 and 2023 (55% in 2021 and 92% in 2023.  However, year 2022 scored 0%). Literature appears to be a problem as only 7 students passed out of 68 that sat for the examination.

So what is the recommendation, or what is Chanelstoria doing for the students?

With this evaluation report, it is obvious that the students require support in the form of additional tutelage in both the arts and the sciences. The most important subjects are Mathematics and English, for all students, Physics and Chemistry for science students, and literature and government, for the arts students.

The Chanelstoria will employ 9 teachers (Mathematics, English, Literature, CRK, IRK Physics, and Biology) to work extra hours (lessons) for the final year students. There would be extra lessons on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, each week.

So, what are the modalities?

The WASCE examination usually comes up between April and June, each year (with April being dedicated to practicals in core sciences like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Agric. Science). These extra lessons would, therefore, be scheduled to come up between January and April 2024. This will sum up to 12 lessons per month (3 per week) and 48 lessons throughout the preparation period.

Wow! This is awesome, this would be huge in cost implication, right?

You, bet!
