Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Acting Deputy Commandant General (DCG) in charge of Critical National Asset and Infrastructure (CNAI), Mrs Helen Amakiri, is dead.

This is contained to a statement signed by NSCDC Public Relations Officer (PRO), Babawale Afolabi, on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to Afolabi, Amakiri died at the early hours of Tuesday after a brief illness.

The NSCDC Commandant General (CG), Ahmed Audi, said that the demise of late Amakiri is a monumental loss to the Corps as she would be greatly missed.

He said the late Amakiri was an exceptionally outstanding officer, a gallant and erudite senior management Staff.

“Acting DCG Amakiri was in charge of CNAI, a position she held with utmost dedication and effective service delivery before her sudden demise,” he said.

Audi commiserates with the family and friends of the deceased, praying that the Almighty God would grant the repose of her soul.

The statement indicated that the late DCG Amakiri, born in 1966, was enlisted into the Corps as a Commissioned Officer in 2004 and rose through the ranks, largely due to her dedication to duty and excellent academic achievements.

NSCDC FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), sympathised with the Corps, family and friends of the deceased.

He said that her impact in ensuring that the mandates of the Corps are achieved would forever remain memorable.

Odumosu prayed that her soul rests in peace and her family be consoled.
