Adeleke reiterates commitment to grassroots development
Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun, on Thursday, reiterated his administration’s commitment to the well-being of people at the grassroots in the state.
Adeleke said this in Osogbo at the presentation of cheques to some communities to execute projects that would directly impact the lives of the people in the areas.
The governor, represented by Alhaji Ayobami Ola-Oluwa, Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, also said that his administration was resolved to drive development and growth in rural communities in the state.
He said that the latest intervention would go a long way in addressing the needs of the people at the grassroots.
Adeleke further enjoined the beneficiaries on proper maintenance and security of the projects sited in their communities
“The essence of community contributions is to ensure maintenance of the projects by communities; you must ensure that you maintain them.
“Once you receive the cheque, I urge you to begin work immediately as we have plans to commission some of the projects by March,” he said.
Also speaking, Alhaji Nurudeen Emiloju, Special Adviser to Governor Adeleke on Community and Social Development, urged the communities to reciprocate the good gesture of the administration by maintaining projects in their areas.
Emiloju said that the intervention was to make lives more refreshing for the people.
He also tasked benefiting communities to use the money received for projects without any delay.
“We all know the situation of the country, and so, I want to urge communities not waste time in procuring materials needed before price increase.
“This agency does not pay variation on projects, and no matter what happens, the project for which money is received must be executed.
“So, I urge us to go home from here and get whatever is needed and again, we encourage benefiting communities to use bank transfers in paying for materials or services and not physical withdrawal of cash.
“We will not entertain stories of any sort aside from the successful execution of projects that money is being received for now.
“Governor Adeleke wants to touch lives in various communities and we must not fail him.”
Earlier, Mrs Abosede, General Manager, Osun Community and Social Development Agency (OSCDA) applauded the governor for showing interest in the development at the grassroot.
Abosede urged beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity by securing and keeping projects in their area in good working conditions.
