Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has tasked heads of parastatals, agencies and government-owned companies to embrace innovation and creativity, to engender development in the state.
Sanwo-Olu said this at the one-day parley he had with the heads of various parastatals, agencies and government-owned companies in Lagos.
The parley, with the theme “Transforming Parastatals Agencies into Agile Organisations for Greater Efficiency,” took place at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.
It was to ensure seamless operations in order to enable them to enhance their service to the people of Lagos State.
“It is imperative for you to know that the heads of parastatals, heads of agencies and government-owned companies have a pivotal role in implementing government policies, thereby providing the dividends of democracy to our teeming population through efficient and efficient delivery of government policies and programmes.
“One of the key and very significant ways we can do this is to embrace innovation, creativity to foster development to meet the ever-growing needs of our citizens.
“For us to meet that goal, we need to have the right people, we need to look at our processes, and we need to enable technology to work for us.
“The success of any administration is largely dependent on the efficiency of all the parastatals and agencies,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The governor urged all government agencies, parastatals and government-owned companies to focus on areas that could affect the quality of lives of the citizens.
“Parastatal agencies should focus on the well being of our people in areas like waste management, water supply and transportation.
“The agencies are critical for the success of the implementation of government’s policies that have direct effect on the lives of the citizens of Lagos State.
“I urge all of us to collaborate, it is important that we form partnerships across agencies and parastatals.
“Transparency and accountability are very important too, by so doing, the citizens can attest to the delivery of services by the government,” he said.
Prof Lere Bale, the Director of Business School Netherlands, delivered a lecture at the event.
It was reported that the first edition of the parley was held on April 29, 2021.
