Court remands artisan for allegedly defiling 11-year-old girl

An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Monday remanded a 39-year-old man, Prosper Ebhoze, in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl.

Ebhoze, whose resides at No 14, Oke-Owo. Off Oka-Omo Street. Alapere- Ketu, Lagos, is charged with defilement.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.O Tanimola, who did not take the plea of Ebhoze, adjourned the case until March 13, for legal advice from the office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions.

Earlier, Prosecuting counsel, Insp Donjour Perezi told the court that Ebhoze committed the offence at about 12 noon at Oja-Omo Street. Alapere, Ketu, Lagos.

The girl, the police said, as sent home from school to get some items.

He said the minor went to her father’s shop to inform but unfortunately she didn’t find him in his workshop, but she saw the defendant who is her fathers apprentice.

“He took her to a corner, covered her mouth and defiled her. He also threatened to kill,” Perezi said.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
