Customs CG inaugurates 164 housing units for officers in Kaduna

The Comptroller-General(C-G) of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adeniyi, on Thursday, inaugurated 164 housing units for officers at Gidan Iyali Estate, Millennium City, Kaduna.

Adeniyi said providing the housing project, which consists of 142 semi-detached two-bedroom bungalows, 20 semi-detached one-bedroom bungalows, and 20 three-bedroom duplexes, was aimed at providing affordable homes for the service’s personnel.

He said that the initiative was not an attempt to recreate a barrack environment but a deliberate effort at ensuring that service personnel conveniently acquired pocket-friendly homes while still in service.

According to him, it is a demonstration of our commitment to ensuring that the personnel have the opportunity to own homes, addressing the challenges some face after retirement.

The C-G expressed hope that the initiative would end the housing-related struggles faced by some officers and men in the past.

Adeniyi also said that the gesture aligned with the nationwide efforts to make affordable housing accessible to all Nigerians, as championed by President Bola Tinubu.
