Fashion designer drags husband to court over alleged domestic violence

A fashion designer, Mrs Joy Egbo, on Wednesday dragged her husband, Obi, before a Customary Court sitting in Jikwoyi, Abuja, accusing him of domestic violence.

The petitioner who resides in Jikwoyi, made the accusation in a divorce petition she filed against in court.

“My husband always beats me and abuses me verbally and physically. I suffered s partial stroke as a result of these abuses,

”My hospital records and scan results are proove of this attacks.,” he said.

She told the court that her husband does not provide food for the family.

“I pay the rent, hospital bills, clothing, feeding, etc.” she said.

She also told the court that her husband forces her to lend him money from her business.

”If I refuse, he will beat me”.

The respondent, who is a teacher, denied all the allegations.

The presiding judge, Thelma Baba, advised the couple to explore reconciliation and adjourned the matter until March 25 for hearing.
