The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has urged church ushers to add value to the ministry by being accountable and responsible in the discharge of their duties.

The Provincial Pastor, RCCG FCT 7, Amos Okemuyiwa, made the call in Abuja on Sunday at the 2024 Training and Investiture of Patrons and Patroness, organised by the church ushers.

The training, with the theme, “Serving God Beyond the Call of Duty,” was organised to enhance the skills and commitment of ushers in performing their roles effectively.

Okemuyiwa, who was represented by Pst. Muyiwa Adebayo of RCCG Recharge Center Zone, also urged the ushers to be mindful of the influence on the congregation.

He cautioned the ushers against unethical behaviours, stressing that dishonesty could hinder one’s destiny.

“Go above and beyond your call of duty; an effective usher must be distinguished and add value to the ministry,” he said.

Another resource person at the event, Pst. Moyomola Okemuyiwa, stressed the need for the ushers to balance their services in the Church with their duties home and their careers.

She underscored the need for spiritual empowerment, divine grace, and spiritual strength to succeed in all aspects of life.

On his part, Pst. Emmanuel White of the RCCG Christ the Door Zone, who spoke on Church security, said that situational awareness and effective handling of emergencies were critical to ensuring a safer church environment.

Also, the Abuja Family Ushers Coordinator, Pst. Olugbenga Jegede, who was represented by his assistant, Pst. Dayo Williams, said that ushers play a critical role in projecting a good image of the Church.

”Ushers display the first impression of the church and the love of Christ amongst the congregation.

”By welcoming the people with a smile speaks more than a thousand words and that will leave a lasting impression on the people and draw them closer to God,” he said

Earlier, the Provincial Head Usher, Toyin Adebayo, stressed the need for continues training and retraining of ushers to improve their capacities, toward maintaining a friendly atmosphere in the Church.

Adebayo explained that the training would equally remind the ushers of their core responsibilities of promoting a conducive worship environment.
