NPFL: Ondo commissioner charges Sunshine Stars on away win
The new Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, has charged Sunshine Stars to win the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) against Sporting Lagos.
NEWSVERGE reports that Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Monday assigned portfolios to the new commissioners swore in on Friday.
Yusuf-Ogunleye in a chat with journalists in Akure on Monday, charged the players and officials of the team to ensure victory in the all-important South-West derby.
According to him, the matchday 30 of the league, which will be played in Lagos is a crucial one for the team due to their position in the league.
He said winning the match should be used to welcome him back into the sporting fold, having been former commissioner for sports under late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
“I have been following the team, they are not doing badly, but due to their present position on the table, it is of the essence to ensure that they use their wealth of experience to get the maximum three points at stake in the match in Lagos,” he said.
NEWSVERGE reports that Sunshine Stars are currently 14th on the log with 35 points from 28 matches.
