Kwara govt. inaugurates committee to oversee Gbugbu International Market

Kwara Government, on Tuesday, inaugurated a five-man committee to oversee the newly constructed Gbugbu International Market in Edu Local Government Area of the state.

Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf, while performing the inauguration in Ilorin, emphasised the importance of transparency and dedication among the committee members.

Yusuf urged them to uphold the values as part of efforts to achieve the goals set by the state government in meeting the yearnings of the residents.

She also enjoined residents of Gbugbu community to maintain and make good use of the facilities provided for them by the state government.

The commissioner reaffirmed government’s commitment to upgrading and promoting socio-economic activities through remodelling and redesigning of other ancient markets across the state.

In her remarks, the Executive Chairman, Kwara State Internal Revenue Services, Mrs Shade Omoniyi, urged the committee to work assiduously, adhere to the work plans, follow the terms of reference and ensure smooth implementation of the plans.

According to her, government’s approach is meant to ensure that the beneficiaries enjoy the market without delay or dispute, thereby preventing any discontent among stakeholders.

Earlier, Chairman, Edu Local Government Transition Implementation Committee, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu, commended Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he described as a laudable project in the local government area.

Aliyu, who described the project as a game changer, noted that it would boost the socio-economic development of the state.

NEWSVERGE reports that members of the committee include: Mr Adebisi Taiwo, Director of Commerce, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology and Hajia Maimunat Amosa, a representative of the State Internal Revenue Services.

Others are: Mr Kolo Mohammed, Revenue Officer, Edu Local Government, Alhaji Sambo Mugaji, a representative of Edu Emirate Council, and Alhaji Lema Gbugbu, a representative of Gbugbu community.
