Security guard, 27, jailed 1 month for stealing fencing wires worth N150,000

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Friday, sentenced a 27-year-old man, Adewale Azeez, to one month imprisonment with hard labour for stealing fencing wires worth N150,000.

Azeez, a security guard at Repute Poultry Farm, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan, was charged with theft.

The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, sentenced Azeez to one month imprisonment in Agodi correctional facility in Ibadan with hard labour or an option of paying N25,000 to the court.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Anthony Igori, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 21, at about 4.00 a.m. at Repute Poultry Farm, Idi-Ayunre area, Ibadan.

Igori said that the defendant stole the fencing wires belonging to the poultry farm without their consent.

He said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
