Oborevwori urges Christian leadeGov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has urged Christian leaders to continue to pray for the peace and unity of the country.

Oborevwori made the call on Sunday at the 3rd Session of the 9th Synod of the Diocese of Ughelli Anglican Communion.

The theme of the Synod was, “You Are Christ’s Ambassadors, Believers’ Heritage and Responsibilities”.

The governor also urged church leaders to continue to propagate the message of Christ to persuade both the young and old to adopt the ways of Jesus
to become His true ambassadors.

“Let me remind the clergy that as Christian leaders, they should not be tired in praying for the nation and our leaders.

“I believe that as those who are called to serve, your fervent prayers will go a long way in addressing most of the challenges facing our dear country.

“Let us, through our ways, persuade non-believers that it pays to be an ambassador of Christ”, he said

The governor thanked Christian leaders and leaders of other faiths for their support and consistent prayers for his administration.
“Your prayers have been very essential in the modest progress we have been able to make.

“We will continue to solicit your continued support, especially through your prayers,” he added.

According to him, the theme of the Synod is a reminder that Christians have to be Christlike wherever they find themselves and in all their undertakings.

The governor also advised the youth to imbibe the virtue of patience as they pursue their goals.

He noted that most of the social problems in the country could be traced to the youth.

“They should always ask themselves, Does this pursuit of mine edify Christ?’ “Does it make me a true ambassador of Christ?’ “

“They should, therefore, undertake some introspection before going ahead in all they do,” he said.

Earlier in his sermon, Rt. Rev Stanley Fube, the Bishop of Langtang Diocese, Plateau, who took his message from 11 Cor. 25:20, described true Christians as ambassadors of Christ.

He said an ambassador must be loyal, committed and have great love for somebody or a thing he represents.

Fube urged Christians to be upright, saying everyone would give account of whatever he or she did on earth.

He also urged political office holders to lead with the love of Christ so as to truly show that they are representatives of Christ on earth.rs to pray for peace , unity
