Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun on Monday expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Abia governor, Dr. Alex Otti, over the killing of two police operatives in Aba.

Abiodun, in a condolence message he personally signed, said those who perpetrated the heinous act were enemies of the state and Nigeria at large.

”They will be caught and made to face the full wrath of the law,” the governor, who is Chairman of Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF), said.

He enjoined the people of Abia to join hands with Otti to tackle the menace of insecurity in the state by being vigilant.

”They should also promptly provide credible information in their communities on activities of criminal elements,” Abiodun said.

He also called on the Police and other security agencies to swiftly fish out the assailants in order to give residents of the state the assurance of safety of their lives and property.

The governor further reiterated the call for State Police by the SGF, adding that its introduction would help in resolving local crimes in various states of the federation.

“Indeed, the issue of security is too important to be left in the hands of security agents alone.

“Obviously, every crime has a local outlook.

“It is on that note that I call on the Federal Government once again to look into the issue of state policing as a way of strengthening our security architecture in the area of local intelligence-gathering at the community level,” Abiodun added.
