Mr Oyakhilome Bello, a member of the Diaspora Directorate, Edo Governorship Campaign Council, has advised the electorate against selling their votes during the upcoming governorship election in Edo.

Bello, who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) United States National Youth Leader, gave the advice in an interview with our reporter on Friday in Abuja.

He said that the current state of development in the state was worrisome, adding that the narrative must be changed.

Bello said that Sen. Monday Okpebholo and his running mate; Dennis Idahosa would enthrone good governance, and deliver democracy dividends to the people if elected.

It was reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed the upcoming Edo governorship election for Sept.21

“For nearly eight years, Edo seems to be under siege, characterised by governmental high-handedness, flagrant disregard to the rule of law and separation of powers,”Bello said.

He said that the pair was commissioned on a mission to redeem the state and bring it to an enviable height.

According to him, Okpebholo and Idahosa are on a redemptive quest to emancipate Edo people from bad governance.

Bello described the duo as transformative leaders on an assignment to transform the state, and create an inclusive government for accelerated growth and development.

He said that they would do it by galvanising and utilising the state’s resources and creating opportunities for all to aspire and achieve their dreams.

“With an articulated blueprint, they are positioned to put Edo on the world stage. Let’s troop out en masse on Sept. 21 and through the ballot, make this divine mandate a reality.

“Edo people are enjoined not to trade their conscience for pecuniary gains or for deceptive promises. Let’s all cast our votes for the emancipator of our time,”Bello said.

He said that without doubt, Okpebholo and his running mate, Idahosa, had shown what pragmatic leadership meant.

Bello said that as serving legislators, they had completed many feasible projects with some ongoing in their various constituencies.

He said that Edo had so many untapped potential which could be effectively harnessed in the interest of the people of the state, if Okpebholo is elected the next governor.

“Dear beloved people of Edo, we have another opportunity to choose leaders who we can entrust our future in their hands, “he said.

He expressed confidence that if elected as governor, Okpebholo and his running mate would deliver dividends of democracy to the people beyond their expectations.
