The Police Command in Kogi on Tuesday issued Cheques worth N19.2 million as Group Life Assurance Scheme to families of six fallen heroes of the force in the State.

The Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, who presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, expressed sadness that the six Police Officers died while in active service.

Onuoha, in a statement issued in Lokoja by the Command’s spokesman, Williams Ovye-Aya, explained that the gesture was part of NPF group life assurance scheme aimed at improving the welfare of the families of the deceased Police Officers.

“I deeply appreciate the IGP’s efforts in reducing the hardship being faced by the families of the fallen heroes.

“I hereby urge you, the beneficiaries, to make judicious use of the money given to you for betterment of your families,” he advised.

The beneficiaries thank the IGP for the gesture and promised to use the money for the benefits of the families.
