Alleged dog bite: Man docked for alleged negligence

A 42-year-old man, Kolade Olukunle, who failed to lock up his dog was on Friday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, after the animal bit a five-year-old girl.

Olukunle, whose address was not provided was charged with negligence.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Sikiru Opaleye told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Monday, at 7.00 a.m, at Apete area, Ibadan.

Opaleye said the defendant failed to lock up his dog in a cage and it it bit a five-year-old girl.

He said the offence contravened Section 343(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Nov. 5, for hearing.
