Published

on

The Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, on Tuesday, remanded one Kazeem Lamidi charged with possession of 407 grammes of marijuana.

Justice Ekerete Akpan ordered the remand after Lamidi pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of unlawful possession of illicit substance levelled against him.

Akpan then adjourned the matter until Sept. 26 for commencement of trial.

Earlier, the Prosecution counsel, Mr Daniel Otunla, had told the court that the defendant was arrested on June 6, at Saw Mill area, Old Ife road in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Otunla said that operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) who effected the arrest acted on intelligence reports from informants that Lamidi was in the business of illicit drug dealing.

He said that NDLEA subsequently apprehended the defendant with a sack containing 407 grammes of substance suspected to be marijuana.

Otunla stated that the offence contravened section 11 (C) of the NDLEA Act Cap n30 Law of the Federation 2004.
