Sales rep docked for allegedly stealing 6 phones worth N3.1m
A 36-year-old sales representative, Azubuike Opara, was on Thursday, arraigned in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, over alleged theft of six mobile phones worth N3.1 million.
Opara is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, forgery and stealing, preferred against him by the police.
The Prosecutor, Insp Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on Nov. 24, 2023 at Sura Shopping Complex, Lagos.
Osuji said that the defendant stole six cell phones, two Iphone 15, worth N1.4 million; two IPhone 12 Promax, worth N850,000; one Iphone 11 promax, worth N520,000 and one Iphone 11 worth N350,000.
According to the prosecutor, the total amount of goods stolen is valued at N3.1 million, belonging to Mr Adewale Adebayo
He said that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Oluwatosi Erinle, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of six months’ bank statement.
She adjourned the case until July 30, for mention.
