Showmax secures exclusive rights to stream ‘Iyanu’ across Africa
Showmax, an African streaming service, says it has secured exclusive rights to stream the highly anticipated Nigerian superhero animation, “Iyanu”, by Lion Forge Entertainment across the continent in 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement by Showmax on Tuesday in Lagos.
“The series will be available on Showmax in 44 African countries and on Cartoon Network and Max in the U.S.”
Iyanu is an adaptation of the graphic novel series, Iyanu: Child of Wonder, by Nigerian creator and producer, Roye Okupe.
The animated series follows the journey of an orphan who must uncover the mystery behind her newfound power to save her people from an ancient curse.
Set in the magical kingdom of Yorubaland, “Iyanu” boasts an all-African voice cast, led by award-winner Serah Johnson as Iyanu, alongside Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Stella Damasus, Blossom Chukwujekwu, and Shaffy Bello.
David Steward, Founder and CEO of Lion Forge Entertainment, said: “We are thrilled to bring ‘Iyanu’ to audiences across Africa and the world.
