LCDA creation: Vision for community growth, says Oyebanji
The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, says his administration will continue to prioritise the development of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and grant autonomy to deserving communities.
He made this statement in Ipole-Ileje, a newly approved community under Kajola LCDA, while inaugurating the town’s Community Hall, laying the foundation for a Community Basic Health Centre, and a residential estate.
The governor was represented by his Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Mr Niyi Ojo.
The governor explained that the creation of LCDAs and granting of autonomy to communities was aimed at promoting development, not for political or mundane reasons such as causing divisions or breaking old accords among original settlers.
According to the governor, the state government is committed to ensuring even development across all Local Government Areas (LGAs) and LCDAs.
He emphasised the importance of consulting with communities to understand their needs and incorporating their inputs into annual budget preparations.
The governor commended Chief Olugboyega Aribisogan, a prominent leader of Ipole-Ileje and former Speaker of the State Assembly, for championing the rebirth of the old town.
He said that the government would continue to support individuals with genuine ideas for moving the state forward.
The governor also cited the inclusion of the road leading to Ipole-Ileje in the state’s rural road projects and the provision of solar lighting in the near future.
In a welcome address, Chief Aribisogan thanked the state government for restoring the town’s original status after over 350 years.
He acknowledged the contributions of Sen. Cyril Fasuyi and promised to continue attracting attention to the town.
Other community leaders, including Sen. Abraham Ogungbemile, Mr Julius Ojubolamo, Chief Samuel Omoniyi, Chief Bose Osire, and Chief Onisara of Igbimo, also spoke at the event, expressing gratitude and commitment to the development of Ipole-Ileje.
