Jigawa varsity urges students to be wary of fraudster

The Sule Lamio University Kafinhausa (SLUK) in Jigawa, has urged students to be wary of a fraudster who is demanding N20,000 to help “clear their carryover courses”.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the university, Mr Sadiq Lawal, gave the warning in a statement in Dutse, on Thursday.

“The management of the university discovered that the fraudster, using a fallacious name of one Dr Ibrahim, sends Short Message Service (SMS) to students claiming to be a staff of the Examination and Record Unit of the institution’s Registry Department.

“The fraudster promised to help those students who have carryover courses if they him N20,000.

“The fraudster sent the messages using phone number 081 4776 1944.

”In the message, he promised to assist students reading medicine and anatomy. To begin with, the university is not running these course,” he said.

He said that investigation revealed that the suspect’s Account Names are: Tolulope Titilayo Dada and Account Number 2117296613 for Zenith Bank PLC.

“The management is working to ensure that this fraudulent person is apprehended to face justice,” he said.
