The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) says the agency’s toll-free call centre has addressed 1,750 calls from the public since its inauguration in June.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said this on Sunday in Lagos in a statement signed by Mr Taofiq Adebayo, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA.

Bakare-Oki said the calls included feedback on the performance of LASTMA officers at various traffic hotspots across the state.

According to Bakare-Oki, the toll-free call centre operates daily from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.

He said it served as a crucial link between LASTMA and the public, enabling motorists to report incidents, seek assistance, and access real-time traffic updates.

“We are aware of the challenges faced by Lagos residents on our roads, particularly due to ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects by the government.

“We are committed to providing timely and effective solutions. Our toll-free call centre is a vital tool in this regard.

“We will continuously strive to ensure that every call is answered promptly, with the appropriate actions taken immediately,” he said.

Bakare-Oki reinforced the agency’s strong commitment to delivering swift and efficient responses to all inquiries and reports received through its Toll-Free Call Center (080000527862 /080000LASTMA).

He added that the new management of LASTMA emphasised capacity building within the agency.

According to him, this involves a comprehensive training programme for staff at all levels to enhance their skills and equip them to handle the evolving demands of traffic management in the rapidly expanding metropolis.

“Our commitment extends beyond simply responding swiftly to public needs; we are also focused on empowering our staff with the knowledge and tools required to perform their duties effectively.

“Capacity building remains a top priority, and the government is actively investing in the continuous development of our personnel to ensure they deliver the highest standard of service,” he said.

Bakare-Oki further reiterated LASTMA’s dedication to upholding its core values of integrity, professionalism, and service excellence.

He assured the public that the agency would continue to strive for improvements across all aspects of its operations to better serve the people of Lagos.
