Man, 20, in court over alleged assault, breach of peace
A 20-year-old man, Gbegua Gbezan, on Thursday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged assault and breach of peace.
The defendant, whose address is unknown, was charged with assault and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 17, at about 4.00p.m at Palace Way, Yafin, Badagry, Lagos.
Okuoimose alleged that the defendant unlawfully assaulted Patinvo Sunday and Thompson Joseph, who were the complainants, by hitting them with stone on their heads.
He said that the defendant unlawfully conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by entering into a BetNaija shop, property of one Mayowa Benson.
The defendant was arrested by the passers-by and handed him over to the Police.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 173 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr N .A. Layeni, granted the defendant N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
He said that one of the sureties should be a community leader with two years tax clearance.
Layeni adjourned the case until Sept. 10, for mention.
