Information Minister urges citizens to utilise FG’s special interventions
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged Nigerians to utilise the Federal Government’s special intervention programmes aimed at cushioning the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
Idris made the call on Thursday in Kaduna during a town hall meeting aimed at creating awareness and promoting discussions on President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope 11-point agenda in Kaduna state.
The meeting had the theme: ‘Sensitizing the Citizenry on Federal Government’s Intervention Programmes at the States and Local Government Levels by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris’.
Idris, who was represented by the Zonal Coordinator, Federal Information Resource Centre (FIRC), Muhammad Gwani, stated that Tinubu was poised to deal with the ongoing hardship facing Nigerians.
That’s why he has allocated N362.94 billion to the agricultural sector, disbursement of enough fertilizers to our farmers across the 36 states to boost agricultural yields and putting in place adequate irrigation structures.
“The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to facilitate year -round food production and has conclusive plans of resolving the recurring farmer-herder clashes,” he said.
He added that the president had put in place policies as enlisted in the Renewed Hope 11-Point Agenda, to ensure that other sectors of the economy were positively impacted upon.
Idris explained that the agenda would upgrade the Nigerian economic situation and change the lives of the citizens for the better through several intervention initiatives for youths, traders and industries among others.
He called on the Nigerian media industries to hype and give wide publicity to the interventions and their benefits to the citizens of Kaduna State and Nigeria.
Earlier, Gwani stated that the centre has embarked on an awareness programme on the intervention programmes of the president.
He added that the awareness programmes were a three-day event that kicked-started on September 18 with the sensitisation of traditional heads of major local government areas in the state.
Represented by Maureen Ebere, the zonal coordinator explained that the aim of the sensitisation was to educate,integrate and orient the people on the different interventions and how to access them.
“The critical intervention areas cut across, free students loan scheme, consumer credit loan,digital and creative enterprise programme promoting renewable energy and youth empowerment internship skills.
“Others are micro and small business loans, talent export and global partnership and NDDC youth empowerment internship program among others,” he said.
While speaking, the Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria(ALGON) Kaduna State, Matthew Gambo, commended the Federal Government for the initiatives, describing them as timely.
