Danladi Isa on Thursday assumed duty as the 34th Commissioner of Police in Abia.

He succeeded Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police(AIG) and redeployed to Zone 15, Maiduguri.

It was reported that Isas hails from Oganenigu, Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Imo State University.

He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1992 and has undergone extensive training in policing and strategic leadership.

Prior to his posting to Abia Police Command, Isah served as the CP Admin Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.

As Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in 2020, he served as DC Admin, Gombe State Command and DC Admin, Zone 12 Bauchi.

He also served as DC Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), FCID Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Speaking at his maiden media briefing at the Command’s headquarters, Umuahia, Isa revealed that he arrived Abia with a clear mission to ensure peace and security in the state.

He said that part of his mission was also to foster collaboration with all stakeholders, and to promote a conducive environment where law and order prevail.

He said that he has an unwavering commitment to the people of Abia and is determined to work diligently with all relevant partners, including other security agencies, community leaders and the public.

The CP said: “Under my leadership, the police in Abia will prioritise intelligence-led policing.

“This approach is crucial in tackling modern crime challenges, as it allows us to stay one step ahead by preventing
crimes before they occur.

“By gathering, analysing, and acting on timely and relevant information, we can be more proactive and responsive in dealing with criminal activities.”

He emphasised that corrupt practices by any officer or personnel under his command would not be tolerated.”

The CP warned that such acts would be met with swift and decisive punitive measures, serving as a deterrent to others.

“Corruption undermines the very fabric of our mission, and I am committed to ensuring a zero-tolerance policy in this regard,” he said.

Addressing the officers of the command, Isa’s predecessor, AIG Onwuemelie thanked them for putting in their best under his watch, to ensure the level of security being enjoyed so far in the state.

Onwuemelie, who prayed for the new CP, urged the officers to give his successor the maximum support and cooperation he needed to succeed.

He expressed profound gratitude to Abia Governor, Dr Alex Otti, and the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun for their moral and financial supports to the entire command.

It was further reported that the highlight was the handing over of document to the CP by the AIG.
