Lawal urges youths to imbibe responsible political engagement
Gov. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has advised youths in the state to conduct themselves and exhibit the spirit of decorum during and after the forthcoming local government elections slated for Nov.
The governor gave the advice at the inauguration of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Stakeholders Committee for Gusau Local Government Area held in Gusau on Tuesday.
Lawal said youths were the backbone of every development in view of their talent and energy, advising that they should be responsible enough to take part in decision making.
“We care about youths’ development, that is why we heavily invested in education, youths’ empowerment among other sectors.
“We are committed to designing and executing policies and programmes capable of transforming the lives of our youths to make them economically self-reliant.
“The overall development of our dear state cannot be achieved without youths’ contribution politically, economically and socially.
“Therefore, I am calling for continued orderly behavior during the forthcoming local government elections in the state,” the governor pleaded.
In his remarks, the PDP Chairman in the state, Dr Jamil Jibbo said the PDP led administration remained focused to its camping promises that centered on critical aspects of live.
Jibbo observed that the overall development of the state would only be achieved through inclusive governance, where all stakeholders were brought together in decision making.
He assured that Gov. Lawal’s administration would continue to be transparent, while appealing to citizens to consistently pray for its success.
