Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State says he will dualise the Akure-Idanre road if elected in the Ondo State Governorship Election scheduled for Nov.16.

Aiyedatiwa made the promise on Wednesday during his campaign to Idanre Local Government where he assured the people of comprehensive development across the council area.

It was reported that Aiyedatiwa is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nov. 16 Ondo election.

He said that the dualisation would significantly enhance transportation, particularly for investors willing to explore tourism opportunities of Idanre hills.

Aiyedatiwa revealed that the dualisation of the road would commence from Oke Aro junction in Akure to Idanre, adding that the contracting documentation was already being done.

“My administration is committed to improving critical infrastructure, boosting economic activities and ensuring the welfare of residents through sustained and strategic investments,” he said.

The governor also assured the people that his government would consider their requests, emphasising his commitment to embarking on projects that would uplift the entire state.

The State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Ade Adetimehin, commended Aiyedatiwa’s infrastructural drive in Idanre and across the state.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa is a leader who prioritises the welfare of all citizens and voting him is a sure way to accelerate development of the entire state,” he said.

The Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Sunday Akinwalire, said the governor had released the first tranche of a counterpart fund of ₦2.9 billion for the provision of water.

He explained that Aiyedatiwa had prioritised water infrastructure, with a major project being the Akure Water Project underway.

“Akure Water Project will benefit Idanre Local Government as part of the central senatorial district.

“The governor’s action is clear demonstration of clear commitment to ensuring residents have access to clean and safe water.

“This project, expected to be awarded within the next couple of months, has already received approval from the French Development Bank.

“It is in collaboration with the International Development Agency and the African Development Bank,” he said.

Chief Emmanuel Aladetuyi, the Odunwo of Idanre kingdom, who recieved Aiyedatiwa at the palace of Owa of Idanre, commended him for his various developmental accomplishments across the state.

Aladetuyi, who pledged the community’s full support for the governor, said the community needed attention on healthcare facilities, tourism potential, road networks, potable water and boundary disputes.
