FG reiterates commitment to security, environmental protection
Sen. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to prioritising security and environmental protection for Nigeria’s socioeconomic development.
Akume represented by Mr Ibrahim Abdulkadir, Deputy Director in charge of General Services in the Office of the SGF, made the statement at the inauguration of the National, States, and Local Governments Awareness Task Force Officers in Abuja.
The event, organised by the Petroleum, Environment, and Solid Minerals Degradation Awareness Association (PESMDAA), aimed to eliminate degradation and irregularities in the petroleum and solid mineral sectors.
Akume emphasised the importance of resolving continual practices within the sector to create awareness and standardise state and local government practices.
He urged the newly appointed officers to collaborate with stakeholders, implement innovative practices, and eliminate degradation and irregularities in the petroleum and solid minerals value chain.
The Chairman of PESMDAA, Dr Robert Adah, noted that the inauguration of the task force would boost awareness about environmental protection and safety.
Commissioners from Cross River and Abia states pledged to sensitise their respective states to ensure full compliance with the policy.
