Lawal stated this in Gusau while declaring open the State Annual Training and Capacity Building for Magistrates and Staffers of the High Court.

It was reported that the training had a theme: ‘Enhancing Speedy Dispensation of Justice: Role of Judiciary in the 21th Century’.

Lawal said, “My administration remains fully committed to supporting the judiciary in all its endeavours.

“We will continue to prioritise initiatives that enhance justice delivery and safeguard the independence of this noble arm of government.”

The Governor described the workshop as a vital step in the commitment of the judiciary to strengthen the competences and capacities of its members of staff.

“This training will provide a platform for judicial officers, Magistrates, Registrars, and other stakeholders in the administration of the justice sector to critically evaluate the performance of the judiciary.

“The importance of this workshop cannot be overemphasised as it will address the challenges in the judiciary, bridging gaps and setting new goals.

“It will also improve the skills and enrich the knowledge of the participants so that they can be better prepared to serve better and and meet public expectations,” he added.

Lawal acknowledged the unwavering commitment of the judiciary staffers in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He said, “The consistent commitment of the state judiciary to the dispensation of justice inspires confidence and increases trust in it as a critical institution in a constitutional democracy.

“The judiciary must play a pivotal role in tackling challenges hindering the swift dispensation of justice, particularly in cases related to crimes and criminality.”

The governor urged, “The stakeholders in the administration of the justice sector should contribute meaningfully to the discourse on strengthening our justice system.

“We should collectively strive for a judiciary that upholds the highest standards of professionalism, justice, equality and equity.

“I call on all the participants to engage fully, learn from the sessions, reaffirm their commitment to justice and the progress of Zamfara.”

In her remarks, the State Chief Judge, Justice Kulu Aliyu, expressed appreciation to the governor for his commitment to the state judiciary.

She said, “This indicates the harmonious working relationship between the three arms of government.

“The importance of the workshop cannot be overemphasised as it will enhance transparency in the judiciary sector as well as bolster the seedy dispensation of justice,” Aliyu said.
