LG Electronics has launched its innovative Dual Inverter Air Conditioner in Nigeria, with a “Mosquito Away” feature, leading to a new era in air conditioning technology.

This is contained in a statement signed by Irene Dyboh, Account Manager, Indwelt Studios, and made available to our reporter on Monday in Lagos.

Dyboh said that the air conditioner was designed to deliver efficient cooling while ensuring a mosquito-free indoor environment.

She said that the Mosquito Away air conditioner was the first-of-its-kind in the Nigerian market.

According to Dyboh, the air conditioner is powered by an ultrasonic wave technology that repels mosquitoes by generating sound frequencies inaudible to humans.

She said that the advanced technology had been tested and certified by the Institute for Advanced Medical Research and Training at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

The official said that results confirmed its efficacy in achieving a 92 per cent mosquito repulsion rate and an 88 per cent knockdown rate indoors.

At the launch, Mr Olugbenga Ogunbayo, Master Trainer, LG Electronics, explained the significance of the innovation.

“The ‘Mosquito Away’ AC by LG is the first of its kind in Nigeria.

“This cutting-edge technology ensures not only enhanced comfort but also improved safety for households, addressing a critical need in the fight against mosquito-borne diseases.

“The LG dual-cool air conditioners also feature LG’s renowned Dual Inverter Compressor, offering fast, quiet, and energy-efficient cooling that uses up to 70 per cent less energy than traditional models,” he said.

Ogunbayo listed additional features to include volt care to ensure uninterrupted operation even during voltage fluctuations, providing a reliable cooling experience.

He added that the air conditioner offered adjustable energy consumption to support optimal performance when running on generator power, allowing for continued cooling without overloading appliances.

He also said that the innovation also empowered users to monitor energy consumption conveniently from anywhere.

“With its dual functionality—combining mosquito repellent and superior air conditioning—the LG Mosquito Away AC addresses both comfort and safety concerns for Nigerian consumers.”

Mr Mohammed Fouani, Managing Director, Fouani Nig. Ltd., highlighted the customer-centric innovation.

“By responding to the needs of Nigerian households, LG continues to deliver solutions that promote well-being and peace of mind.

“The Mosquito Away AC represents a step forward in creating safer, healthier and more comfortable living spaces.”
