Always buy goods where you can track sellers with receipt, NAFDAC advises
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has advised Nigerians to always buy goods from where they could trace the seller with receipt.
The Director-General of the agency, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, gave the advice when she featured on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum
in Abuja.
She said buying goods from where receipts are issued to buyers would enable the buyers to trace the location when the goods are defective.
She added that “if receipt is not given for goods purchased, do not buy, because you may fall victim when such goods are defective or substandard.
“But with the receipt in your hand, you can quickly return it get a refund.”
The NAFDAC boss equally advised Nigerians to ensure that goods have NAFDAC registration number before purchase.
Adeyeye specifically urged Nigerians to always check for date of manufacture, expiry date and examine the packaging of goods before making payment,
saying that NAFDAC is working toward having a healthy nation.
She said “ensure that goods you buy have NAFDAC number on it, check carefully, if the goods do not look good, please don’t buy.
“Do also watch out for date of expiry; don’t buy because it is cheap.”
She also advised Nigerians to cook their foods very well, especially grains, to kill the germs that might be found in them.
