NiMet forecasts 3-day hazy weather condition from Saturday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted hazy weather condition from Saturday to Monday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Friday in Abuja envisaged moderate dust haze on Saturday.

It anticipated a horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km over parts of Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger and Kogi States.

“While the rest of the North, the North Central and Inland cities of the South are expected to experience slight dust haze in good visibility throughout the forecast period.

“Hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds is expected over the coastal parts of the South with chances of afternoon or evening rains over Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Lagos States,” it said.

According to NiMet, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km is expected over parts of Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa, Zamfara and Kaduna States on Sunday.

The agency predicted the rest of the North, the North Central and Inland cities of the South to experience slight dust haze in good visibility throughout the forecast period.

It anticipated early morning mist or fog over the coastal regions of the South with the rest of the day to experience a hazy atmosphere with patches of clouds.

“For Monday, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km is expected over the North and North Central parts of the country throughout the forecast period.

“The Inland cities of the South is expected to experience slight dust haze in good visibility throughout the forecast period while the coastal cities of the South is expected to experience a few patches of clouds in hazy atmosphere with prospects of early morning mist of fog.

“Dust particles are in suspension, public should take necessary precaution. People with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather condition,” it said.

NiMet urged the public to adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities.

The agency advised Airline operators to get the airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from its office for effective planning in their operations.
