Students laud Gov. Idris’ payment of N585m foreign tuition fees

The National Union of Kebbi State Students (NUKESS), has lauded Gov. Nasir Idris for the payment of registration fees to indigenous students studying in various universities in India.

It was reported that Gov. Nasir Idris, on Jan. 6, approved the release of N585.4 million for payment of tuition fees for 100 students studying in different universities in Indian.

Briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, the National President of the union, Isah Suleiman-Libata, said the support underscored the governor’s commitment to ensuring that education remained a cornerstone of development in the state.

“With unmatched dedication to the welfare of the students and the transformation of the educational sector, Gov. Idris, has started the new year with the approval of the sum of N585.4 million to support indigenous students in India.

“This landmark decision underscores his profound commitment to ensuring that education remains a cornerstone of development in the state,” he said.

Suleiman-Libata outlined numerous support for the students under the leadership of Gov. Idris, saying his actions embodied true leadership, driven by compassion, vision and a relentless pursuit of progress.

“The notable contributions include, approval of domestic scholarship of N967 million for indigenous students across tertiary institutions within the country.

“Free education support for basic primary and secondary school students and support for female students in Starex University, India.

“The governor also approved over N700 million to cover tuition fees, upkeeps and other expenses for the indigenous students sent to study in Subharti University, GD Goenka University and Kalinga University, India.

“Approval of upkeeps and other expenses worth N100 million for students from the state in Ain Sham University, Egypt, among others,” he said.

The president urged the students to justify the investment by dedicating themselves to education pursuit for them to achieve greatness of life in future.
