Unilorin alumni donate N500,000 to best graduating student

Former students of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin, 2009 Set, have donated the sum of N500,000 to the best graduating student in the department.
The money would be presented to the most outstanding graduating student of Mass Communication during the forthcoming 2025 convocation ceremony.
This was revealed by the President of the Mass Communication Alumni Association, UNILORIN, Dr AbdulGafar Arikewuyo, during a meeting with the Deputy Registrar of the University, Mrs Kafayat Afolaya, on Thursday in Ilorin.
Arikewuyo noted that the association appreciated the University and the Department of Mass Communication for having positive impact in their lives and careers.
“The 2009 Set, which is the pioneer set of the department, had been actively involved in giving back to the department.
“The set had earlier renovated the departmental newsroom, upgrading it to meet the 21st century standards with state-of-the-art facilities,” he said.
Arikewuyo said that the award was to motivate and encourage students to excel academically and professionally.
He said that the association hope that other ex-students would be inspired to continue with the kind gesture and support the success of future students.
