The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Kayode Egbetokun, has described the graduation of 587 police constables from the Police Training School, Ilorin, as another milestone commitment to strengthen national security.

Egbetokun stated this in Ilorin on Thursday during the Passing-out Parade of the 2022 Recruit Constable Intake.

The I-G, represented by the state Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, said the ceremony affirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force.

According to him, the government is committed to recruiting and training new personnel annually.

The graduation, he said, marked the successful culmination of a challenging journey undertaken by 587 recruits out of the 10,000 recruits trained across various police training institutions nationwide.

He said the recruits demonstrated exceptional resilience, discipline and unwavering commitment throughout their training.

He, however, urged the constables to remain steadfast, uphold the rule of law and stay committed to the values of courage, fairness and professionalism.

“The recruitment and training of 10,000 police recruits reflect our collective resolve to prioritise the security of lives and property across the country.

“The Force is focused on adopting innovative strategies to combat crime, ensure the safety of citizens, and strengthen public trust.

“Let me emphasise that the uniform you wear is not merely a symbol of authority; it is a representation of service, sacrifice, and responsibility,” he said.
