The Senate of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has approved the appointment of two of the university’s lecturers as Deputy Vice-Chancellors (DVC’s).

The duo are Prof. Taibat Odunola-Bakare, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences; and Prof. Mukhtar Etudaiye, Faculty of Law.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Ilorin by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun.

Akogun, who confirmed the appointment, said that the DVC’s succeeded Prof. Olubunmi Omotesho and Prof. Sulaiman Ambali, whose tenure expired on Dec.20.

According to the director, the DVC’s will formally assume office once the university’s governing council, led by Surv. Abiodun Aluko, approves the decision of the senate.

“A renowned Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Odunola-Bakare, is currently the Director of the Centre for Management and Leadership (CML).

“She is also the immediate past dean of the Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, and will serve as the DVC (Academics), subject to approval of the council.

“Etudaiye, a professor of law and the current chairman, University Admissions Committee, will serve as the DVC (Research, Technology, and Innovation), also subject to the council’s approval.

“The current DVC (Research, Technology, and Innovation), Prof. Adegboyega Fawole, will now serve as the DVC (Management Services),” he said.

The director said that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, commended the outgoing DVC’s on their dedication and loyalty to the system.
