Applicants express frustration over hurdles in accessing FCSC recruitment portal

Some applicants have expressed frustration over difficulties in accessing the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) recruitment portal since its announcement on January 7.

It was reported that the commission had announced job vacancies through its website and some national dailies for job seekers to apply for different posts in the Federal Civil Service.

Some of them, who spoke with our reporter on Monday in Abuja, said repeated attempts to log in and register had been unsuccessful.

Mr Felix Eneminyi, one of the applicants, said he was excited when he saw the job advertisement in one of the national dailies but became disappointed when he was unable to access the website.

“I have been trying to log in since the first day I saw the advert, but it has been extremely difficult. Up till now, I still can’t access the site,” he said.

He expressed disappointment over the website, doubting its authenticity.

Miss Ifeoma Eze, another applicant, also expressed similar frustration, saying the FCSC should have ensured the portal was upgraded to accommodate high traffic before making the announcement.

“I believe the issue is due to the high number of people trying to access the site.

“Given that there has been no federal employment for over a decade, the commission should have anticipated this level of traffic,” she said.

Miss Gift Jacobs echoed the concerns and urged the FCSC to improve on the website’s accessibility to prevent further disappointment among job seekers.

“I am appealing to the commission to please upgrade the website as many Nigerians who have been waiting for such opportunities are frustrated with the current development”.

Miss Eneh Awodi, another applicant corroborating others said,” look at my screenshot of the portal that I tried to login here. I have tried like three times even at midnight but I couldn’t succeed.”

Chairman of the FCSC, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, however, in his reactions expressed concern over the development, which he attributed to high traffic to the website.

Olaopa, who assured the prospective applicants of hitch-free recruitment, said that the commission was working assiduously to ensure smooth access to the portal.

“Following the vacancy announcement published on the Commission’s website, the Commission has been inundated with complaints from prospective applicants of their inability to access the portal.

“The Commission wants to assure members of the public that its ICT department is doing everything possible to make the process as hitch-free as possible.

“The Commission recognised high traffic to the website as many people try to enter the portal at the same time,” he said.
