BUA donates N35m worth of drugs to Sokoto clinics

BUA Cement Company on Tuesday donated drugs and other medical supplies worth N35 million to 16 clinics in various communities across Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The Managing Director of BUA Cement, Alhaji Yusuf Binji, explained that the donation was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at supporting host communities.

Binji, who was represented by the Assistant Director of Human Resources and Corporate Services, Alhaji Sada Suleiman, highlighted that the donation had expanded from eight to 16 clinics in response to the growing healthcare needs of the residents.

He emphasised that the initiative was intended to complement the efforts of the Sokoto State Government in improving healthcare delivery across the state.

“Giving back to our communities is a priority for BUA Cement as it strengthens our relationship and ensures mutual benefits.

“We sincerely appreciate the support we receive from our host communities. The continued success of our company relies on their genuine backing,” said Binji.

In addition to healthcare support, Binji noted that BUA Cement was also assisting the state government with the provision of potable water, electrification, rural road construction, scholarships, education, and the empowerment of women and youth.

The Chairman of Wamakko Local Government Area, Alhaji Umar Dundaye, expressed his gratitude for the intervention, calling it a strategic initiative that would improve access to healthcare services and ease the burden on families.

Dundaye, represented by the Primary Healthcare Coordinator, Alhaji Umar Tureta, urged hospital staff to ensure the proper use of the donated items.

He also recommended tracking the distribution of supplies to ensure they reach those in need.

Dundaye also encouraged parents and guardians to ensure their children attend school regularly and urged other corporations and wealthy individuals to emulate BUA Cement’s philanthropic efforts.

The Traditional Head of Wajekke, Alhaji Mailato Gumbi, thanked the company for its generous contribution and expressed hope that the support would positively impact the well-being of the community.

It was reported that the benefiting communities include Bakin Kusu, Gidan Bailu, Malabaina, Sabon Garin Ali, Gidan Boka, Asare, Arkilla, and Wamakko. Others are the Gwuiwa, Beni, Farfaru, Kaurar Kuma, Wajeke, Gumbi, and the Mobile Police Barracks clinic.
