LASU tasks students on hygiene, seeks partnerships for improved learning

The Lagos State University (LASU), on Wednesday, appealed to corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals and groups to collaborate with it in infrastructure development to improve learning.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, made the appeal during the inauguration of LASU Laundry Mart at its main campus, Ojo.
It was reported that the laundry mart was donated to LASU by Aspira Nig. Ltd.
The vice chancellor said that the donation would significantly contribute to an inclusive learning environment which would allow students to reach their full potential.
“About 15 months ago, the concept of this project was born, when the leadership of Aspira Nig. Ltd. visited my office to sign a memorandum of understanding.
“This landmark agreement committed the company to constructing and donating this state-of-the-art facility.
“Today, our university landscape is enriched by the impressive facility, which brings beauty and convenience to the lives of our community members,” she said.
The vice-chancellor said that the facility would reduce stress, promote entrepreneurship, foster support and ensure convenience for the LASU community.
“We call on more corporate entities to imitate this by creating partnerships that will enhance the lives of our staff and students,” she said.
She added that the facility would promote hygiene and overall well-being, urging students and other members of the community to ensure hygiene.
She said that LASU would not relent in its efforts to provide modern amenities to ensure optimal performances and convenience.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mr Adeniran Kasali, who was represented by a director in the ministry, Mrs Bunmi Ibidapo-Obe, thanked the donor for providing the facility.
Kasali hoped that it would enhance quality of life, promote hygiene and provide employment.
He advised members of the LASU community to use the facility responsibly.
The Marketing Manager of Aspira Nig. Ltd., Mr Kareem Olakoleyin, said that the initiative was part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility.
He said it was aimed at making life better for the university community, adding that it was a demonstration of the power of partnership in enhancing campus experience.
The Registrar of the university, Mr Emmanuel Fanu, was among the dignitaries at the event.
