Lawyer petitions Ogun Police Commissioner over land dispute

Reports reaching NEWSVERGE indicate that a lawyer and human rights activist, Barrister Gabriel Olalekan Soyombo Esq, has petitioned the Ogun State Commissioner of Police over a land dispute at Yemo Village near Orile Ijako, Yewa North Local Government area.

RE: ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF THE LAND BELONGING TO THE FAMILY OF YUSSUF ATIMO OF YEWO
VILLAGE NEAR ORILE IJAKO, YEWA NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF OGUN STATE BY ONE DR
ADELEKE ISMAILA: NOTICE OF FACTS AND AUTHENTIC RIGHTS OF POSSESSION
The above subject matter refers.
With utmost sense of respect and dignity, we are solicitors to the family of YUSUF ATIMO hereinafter
refers to as our client. Given the authority derived from the family therefore, hence this letter to your
office. We have been properly briefed by the ATIMO family of the issues in details as it concerns the
family land of our clients upon which one Dr ISMAILA ADELEKE illegally tresspassed. The family of ATIMO
has recently met in their large numbers and resolved to advance upon the proprietary of their interest
upon the said Land lying and being situated at YEWO village. The extended meeting of the ATIMO family
with respect to this resolutions was held on Friday 7th of February 2025. Our mandate of conveying you
this resolution is however not only on the seemingly unending nuisance abatement in our client's land ,
but fundamentally on point of facts to which you would like to be aversive with considering the biased
approach of some senior police officers of the command in this matter.

Our clients, out of their respect for peace and rule of Law, have asked the trespasser on their land to
vacate within the time lag of 14 days. In this regard, you deserve to know who is at the right side of Law
and history of Possession.Our client, the family of YUSSUF ATIMO properly and lawfully possessed the
customary right of ownership on the land acres MEASURING 42.093 ACRES with land mass AREA
170351.021 SQUARE METERS. lying, situate and being at YEWO VILLAGE of Yewa North Local
Government Area of Ogun State having been properly, with no hindrances from any quarters, exercising
full possession and ownership right on the same expanse of land under their right of Law of inheritance
from their ancestors.
Aside the traditional title of ownership that the family of YUSSUF ATIMO derived as inheritance right of
ownership, the family have also displayed right of absolute possession on that same land which in all
facts and deeds put forth the YUSUF ATIMO FAMILY as the authentic owner of the acres of Land
described above with its survey plans here attached with.

The family of YUSSUF ATIMO, our client, have certified all the procedures, rules and the conditions
precedent to properly own and demonstrate customary bright of possession of their property thereon
and as such remain the original owner of their Land. As part of the intent of this conveyed message to
your office is to disclose the determination of our clients, the Yusuf ATIMO family to resist any form of
intimidation and harrasment from any biased police officers of this command who works in connivance
with the Land grabbers and usurpers. We have advised the trespasser, Dr Adeleke Ismaila to go to court
and seek redress if he so sure of any genuine claims on the said Land belonging to the Yusuf ATIMO
Family, our clients.
On this note, we wish to make it known to your office accordingly, that notice of SEVEN DAYS
ULTIMATUM has been issued to the trespasser who is illegally interfacing and encroaching upon the
Land acres of the YUSUF ATIMO family to remove all their shanties, crops and produce from the land
belonging to our client,, commencing from the day this letter was served on him. The family of ATIMO
have decided in their strong affinity to bring development to bear on their Land, hence full possession
and complete discharge of their duties of possession and customary ownership on the Land.

We want the Nigerian Police to Know that Issues around Land is strictly of a civil proceedings In the
Nigerian Law court and same should be so handled and directed by all party concerns including the
Nigerian Police. It is as a result of this, that our clients directed the trespasser to bow to logic and
respect the rules of Law or approach the court of law in exercising their rights. The ATIMO family is a
peace loving family with no record of violence whatsoever. The interest if the command in the case
above should not be more than maintaining peace and ensure community Orderliness, not by
adjudicating upon same in a most biased and conspiratorial manner. The Family of YUSUF ATIMO have
in their possession every material evidence that places them above criminal indictment. Our clients, the
ATIMO family are ready to pursue peace and make rule of Law their fundamental virtue under this
circumstance.
